Liebe Familie - dear family,

Happy Swiss National Day! Today we celebrate when the three original cantons (Swiss states), Uri, Schwyz and Unterwalden united and founded the Swiss Confederation.

We have spent another year working to advance our Swiss family history work. We began looking for the father of Christian Spring, but as we progressed we found our work to go so much deeper. As a result, we have made much progress in correcting information on the FamilySearch genealogy site.

We have been working with professional genealogists including a Swiss church record researcher and a DNA specialist who have helped us enormously in expanding and correcting the Spring family tree.

In the coming year, our emphasis is going to be on building out DNA descendancy charts so that we can discover the unknown identities of individuals not covered in source church or civil records. This work is critical and ongoing. We invite any and all who would like to participate in this family research adventure.

This year, we need further help from the Spring family. Your DNA can be used to help find relationships or “matches” to different people. Each person has differences in their DNA so you may have different matches than other family members. This is why every person is essential. The more descendants of an ancestor that take a DNA test, the more likely family tree mysteries will be solved.

You can help by going to swissgenerations.org and visiting the pages listed under the DNA Research tab where you will find instructions on how to take a DNA test and help move this great cause forward.

Today, Swiss National Day, would be a great day to start!

Herzliche Grüsse - heartfelt wishes,

The Swiss GENErations Board
